These infant car seat accessories make being in the car so much easier for you and for your baby, and don’t cost a fortune:

Car seat mirror

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that babies ride in a rear-facing car seat as long as possible. If you want to see your baby’s face while driving, you’ll need a mirror that attaches to the headrest of the seat your child’s car seat is installed.

Rear view mirror

If your rear view mirror isn’t big enough to see the car seat mirror as well as the traffic behind you, a clip-on rear view mirror can help you see the car seat mirror of your baby more easily. We found clip-ons are more sturdy than ones with a suction cup.

Car window shades

If you don’t have tinted windows in your back seat, we recommend window shades on the side where your baby’s car seat is to keep your baby from being blinded by the sun and to block harmful UV rays. They also keep the baby’s car seat cooler. And never leave a child unattended in a car, not even for a short period of time!

Car seat toy

Once your baby starts to grab things, a car seat toy can help develop motor skills and keep your baby entertained while you drive. This one attaches to the handle of the car seat, so it stays in reach of baby.

Pacifier / teether clip

A pacifier clip helps keep pacifiers and teethers from falling on the ground. The strap is made of polyester fabric, washable, and BPA free. It attaches to the small hole in pacifiers or teethers.

Snack tray

Though not necessary for a baby, we felt this is worth adding in case your little one is a little older and snacks on the go. It doubles up as a snack tray and cup holder for the little ones.

Travel carry bag

If you plan on travelling by airplane, you can either check your car seat or take it on board with you (if you have purchased baby’s own seat). If you check it, we highly recommend transporting the car seat in a travel bag. Airlines carry car seats for free, but don’t pay for any damage they cause.

Having a sign informing other drivers there is a baby in your car signals to others to drive a bit more careful and be patient with you. Some attach to your rear window from the inside with a suction cup, but magnetic ones that attach to the outside can be seen a little better.
